Seminar on Empowering Women with Microcredit Lending
Julie Chippendale, owner of Canyon Yoga, will host a presentation about how we can help the three billion people in our world that live on two dollars a day or less. The gathering is intended to help attendees learn about microcredit lending to determine whether they might be interested in participating.
Women’s Empowerment International (WE) has a simple and direct mission to provide microcredit loans as small as $50 to very poor women so they can start their own businesses and create better lives for themselves. One hundred percent of monies lent go directly to funding microcredit loans. With the profits from their businesses, women have waterproofed their roofs, sent their children to school and purchased life-saving medicines for their families. The father of microcredit lending, Mohammed Yunus, discovered that women, unlike men, have a 98 percent rate of payback on loans and use the profits of their businesses to reinvest in their families and communities.
