Eco-friendly Fitness Line Celebrates One Year of Love in Action
Three years ago, revolucion founder and CEO, Jason Leon, came up with the idea for his company while sitting in boat pose during a hot yoga class.
“Almost everyone in the class was wearing the same brand,” recalls Leon, who was working on his MBA in social entrepreneurship at the time. “I did some quick math and realized how much had been spent on clothes in that one class and thought: What if those purchases were contributing to a better world?”
Two years later, revolucion released its first collection of high-performance, yoga-inspired fitness apparel. The differentiator: Each piece includes a specific giveback to a nonprofit that helps a child or young adult in need.
“We believe there’s a powerful connection between becoming your best self and creating a better world,” Leon says. “revolucion allows people to make a conscious decision to do good through their purchases. Every time they wear a piece of revolucion, they’re reminded of that child who was helped because they chose this piece and not another brand. We call that Love in Action.”
The company partners with four nonprofits: The Freedom Story, which helps girls escaping trafficking in Thailand; 8 West, which supports homeless youth in San Diego; the PH8 Foundation, which seeks to end thirst in our lifetime; and the Henna School, a preschool in one of South Africa’s most impoverished areas. Each month, the team tallies the giveback and publishes it on their Love Index.
“Naturally, our Love in Action mission extends to the planet,” says Steve Dobbins, the company’s co-founder and president. “We understand how much fashion contributes to problems to the environment, so we actively seek out eco-friendly solutions.”
“We believe the world needs Love in Action more than ever right now,” Leon says. “revolucion represents the best in all of us. We’re in this together—and together anything is possible.”
