Stand Up to Parkinson’s, an SUP-o-Run

Encinitas resident Pamela Strom will host a Stand Up to Parkinson’s Race, an SUP-o-Run, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., October 22, at Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort & Marina, on the Back Bay of Newport Beach. The event is a duathlon-type Standup Paddle Board (SUP), or Paddle Board race infused with running, featuring an elite course with approximately five miles of SUP and two miles of running, broken down into two periods of each event. The novice course includes three miles of SUP and one mile of running, also broken down.

Kids races and raffles will round out the festivities, and proceeds will benefit the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation.

Cost: $40 for elite and novice course if registered before Oct. 21, or $50 day of race. $15 kids race. Location: 1131 Back Bay Drive.
