Profiles of EMPOWERMENT: Susan Grant and Pamela Allen
This month, in honor of Mother’s Day, Natural Awakenings introduces a pair of women who are following their dreams while making a difference in the lives of others. Susan Grant and Pamela Allen both offer empowering, transformative therapies and procedures that focus on holistic health and well-being.
Return to Health
Dedicated to assisting veterans to make a transition back to good health from homelessness, post-traumatic stress disorder or traumatic brain injury, Susan Grant also works with individuals who want to return to health by putting together the pieces of the puzzle that will help them heal. Working primarily with gentle acupressure, which she terms core acupressure, she helps her patients to release the pain held within their bodies.
Grant refers to herself as an assistant who helps create a safe environment for healing, and she employs a listening approach as she works with clients. Trained as a craniosacral therapist and acupressurist, she has taught classes with the renowned Upledger Institute’s International Alliance of Healthcare Educators (IAHE) program. She is also on the faculty of Soul Lightening International.
Beginning in May, Grant will offer one-on-one and small group yoga sessions at her Pacific Beach location. She continues to work with veterans and is a member of the VetFam Forum. “I hope that all of us will remember that veterans are our neighbors, our friends and our family,” she advises, “and that they deserve our care and consideration, regardless of the current conditions of their lives.” For some time, Grant has donated treatment to needy veterans, and she is expanding her services.
“Wherever you are on your journey, it would be my privilege to help conduct you on your return to good health,” she says.

San Diego Microcurrent Facial and Body Sculpting
Pamela Allen’s goal is to help her clients align their outer appearance with their youthful, inner image. The nationally certified soft tissue therapist offers an incisionless, non-surgical procedure for face or body lifts and is a skilled practitioner whose clients’ photos reveal impressive before-and-after results.
Safe and effective for women and men, Allen’s facial and body sculpting procedure offers a healthy, age-defying alternative to plastic surgery and liposuction. The pain-free method uses a low-level electrical impulse, or microcurrent, to “reprogram” facial and body muscles and bring collagen closer to the surface of the skin. Contours are uplifted and tone for long-lasting results. “Your face or body gradually transforms to a more fit and youthful appearance,” Allen advises. “You can look and feel good after every treatment. How do you think so many Hollywood stars maintain that famous Red Carpet look?”
Allen’s comprehensive knowledge and expertise extends to health and beauty products, and she offers a selection of certified organic Benedatta Aromatherapeutics Holistic Skin Care products. The Seaweed Mask is a personal favorite that she swears by. Allen’s recent relocation to the popular Adams Avenue area provides more access and easier parking for clients.
