Seaside Bazaar Under New Ownership

Seaside Bazaar, an open-air market in the heart of Encinitas, was recently purchased by Josiah Sharmahd and Emily Matson, who also own Ecotopiia. After getting their start as vendors in the bazaar and parlaying that experience into a popular eco-store, Sharmahd and Matson say they have a vested interest in the success of their new business venture.
“We are breathing new life into the bazaar,” says Sharmahd. “It’s been around since 1985, and the location in the heart of Encinitas is arguably one of the best in the country. We’re sourcing out many of the most intriguing vendors we can find.”
The bazaar is open year round from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, and the merchandise varies each week. “A lot of people have this preconceived notion that Seaside Bazaar is the same vendors and the same stuff every time you go,” explains Sharmahd. “That is really as far from the truth as you can get. We have artists, importers and engineers bringing in great new products all the time. It is an outlet for the small businessperson to really show their stuff.”
Location: 459 S. Coast Hwy. 101, Encinitas 92024. For more information or to inquire about becoming a vendor, call 760-753-1611.
