The Importance of Material Safety Data Sheets
Andy Savant, vice president of sales and marketing for Pure One Green, advises consumers to pay attention to Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), available by request for all household cleaning products. “People need to learn how to read and understand them,” he advises. “Your life, family, pets and the planet depend upon it.”
Savant points out several common household cleaning products and the warnings present on their MSDS. “‘Do not allow into open waterways or groundwater systems’ appears on the Simple Green MSDS,” he says. “‘Eye Irritant. Avoid eye and prolonged skin contact. Do not ingest,’ appears on the 409 MSDS.’”
Savant continues: “The Lysol MSDS reads, ‘Warning: This product contains a chemical known to the State of California to cause birth defects or other reproductive harm.’ And Resolve Carpet Cleaner Spot and Stain Remover’s MSDS reads, ‘Store in original container in a secure area, inaccessible to children and pets. Keep out of reach of children.’”
Savant says Pure One Green offers full MSDS transparency, which reinforces the safety of their products. All the company’s products comply with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration guidelines for non-hazardous, non-toxic chemicals, and they are 100 percent environmentally safe, water-based formulas, designed to replace many types of toxic cleaners on the market today.
Pure One Green’s household product line-up includes Will Clean Green Household Degreaser, Glass Glo Green Glass and Surface Cleaner, X-Out Odor Green Organic Formula Odor Eliminator, and Spot Check Green Carpet and Fabric Cleaner. “With formulations that are green-compliant and biodegradable, these products are on the cutting edge of consumer-safe, environmentally friendly cleaners and stay true to the company’s tagline, ‘Green products for a healthy planet,’” says Savant.
Pure One Green also offers an extensive line of safe and healthy pet care products; its tagline reads, “We don’t test on animals. We test on people.”
