Sep 29, 2011 03:13PM
The Fall Garden and Home Festival will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., November 5, at The Water Conservation Garden at Cuyamaca College, in San Diego. Attendees can explore numerous options for sustainable solutions for the outside and inside of their homes. In conjunction with the festival, a tour of homes featuring sustainable indoor solutions will be hosted by The Garden’s event partner, Lakeside’s River Park Conservancy.
For attendees seeking eco-friendly outdoor solutions, the festival will feature San Diego County gardening experts and nurseries that specialize in water-saving shrubs, trees, perennials and grasses. Designers, contractors and suppliers will be on hand to offer sustainable solutions within the home.
Scheduled lectures will focus on a variety of topics, including creating water-smart landscapes, the benefits of raising egg-laying chickens in an urban environment, and several “Ask the expert” booths, where attendees can get advice from professionals on a range of issues. Twenty-minute landscape design consultations can be reserved ahead for $10.
The family-friendly event also offers activities for children of all ages in the Kidz Zone, including face painting, planting, crafts and a petting zoo.
