Natasha Wolf is a licensed naturopathic doctor whose first love is to help her patients solve their health challenges naturally. The founder of Vitalia Natural Medicine customizes patient treatment plans, which generally include diet, nutritional and lifestyle advice, as well as vitamin and herbal therapy and homeopathic medicine that support the body, rather than overwhelming its physiology with side-effects. “With each patient, I put together an individualized treatment plan, which often includes stress management,” advises Wolf, a 2002 graduate of Bastyr University, the largest university for natural health arts and sciences in the U.S.
When Wolf set up practice in Carlsbad Village in 2003, she began specializing in women’s health issues such as hormonal balance, menopausal complaints, premenstrual syndrome, and complementary cancer treatments, which she studied during her internship at Cancer Treatment Centers of America. “I work in conjunction with an oncologist to provide diet and nutritional support, as well as herbal and homeopathic treatments that are not only in alignment with chemotherapy, radiation and surgery, but which generally also improve the outcome,” says Wolf, who also works with cancer survivors that are interested in how they can prevent a reoccurrence.
The first step in Wolf’s approach to hormonal imbalance generally focuses on diet, nutrition, herbal and homeopathic medicine. Patients frequently achieve hormonal balance without hormone replacement therapy. “I believe that you can balance hormones by supporting the liver and adrenals and getting the body to produce the right amount of progesterone,” she says. Wolf is also successful at treating women with perimenopausal symptoms. “Often women of all ages resign themselves to monthly symptoms, when they could get relief using natural methods,” advises Wolf, who adds that birth control pills and hormone replacement therapy aren’t the only answers to many women’s health issues.
