Over 2,000 years ago, Hippocrates, known as the “Father of Medicine,” stated, “All disease begins in the gut.” Optimal health can only be achieved with having optimal digestion and elimination. No matter how well you eat and how many supplements you take, if you can’t digest and absorb it, your cells cannot use it. And if you are not able to eliminate waste and toxins effectively and in a timely manner, they wreak havoc in every part of your body. Sub-optimal elimination could manifest as skin issues such as eczema or acne, hormonal imbalances, mental health conditions like depression or anxiety, body aches and pains, and many other chronic conditions such as acid reflux, diabetes, chronic fatigue, hypertension and cancer.
Digestion is a complicated, delicate and energy consuming task. When it’s done correctly, our entire body reaps the benefit. The opposite is also true; sub-optimal digestion negatively affects all organ systems ranging from nervous, thyroid, digestion, endocrine, cardiovascular to skeletal systems.
When you learn to eat in a way that ensures your cells absorb and benefit from all the nourishing nutrients in your meals, you become healthier, and happier, in body, mind and spirit.
