CANNABIS: A Natural Opioid Alternative

C athy Bliss, Certified Biofeedback Specialist and Director of Community Outreach for Mankind Dispensary on Miramar Road, in San Diego, says that she knows more people these days are seeking natural opioid alternatives. “Either they or their loved one has chronic pain and they’re looking for a better option than opioids. So many in our community are curious about cannabis, but need some help navigating what to try and how to take it and where to purchase a safe, legal product.”

Bliss invites enquiring minds to visit Mankind where professional consultants are always available to discuss how cannabis can be of benefit to them. “We’re happy to show you our wide variety lab-tested, pesticide and contaminant-free products,” says this natural health enthusiast who is always excited to hear cannabis success stories. “My loved-one was prescribed opioids for pain from a joint replacement. After a few days he tried a cannabis tincture and that relieved the pain, so he could sleep. Over the years he has found other cannabis concentrates that work for him.”

More success stories include a patient that won a recent $500 raffle at the dispensary. “He says he loves Korovo edibles as they relieve his pain so he can sleep. Another patient that won the raffle the following month loves Jetty Pax Pods as they relieve his pain from five back surgeries,” shares Bliss. “So, the best thing is to be a ‘bio-hacker’ and get a few different formulations and take notes and see what works best for your body.”

Mankind carries products with both CBD and THC in different ratios. According to Bliss, many of their dispensary customers enjoy a product with an 18:1 CBD to THC ratio for daytime, which can offer anti-inflammatory benefits without psychoactivity, followed by a 4:1 or 1:1 in the evening when they are able to fully relax. “However, everybody is different. I love hearing back from people on what products and ratios work for them,” she affirms.
